What this tool actually tells you

  • Niche classification β€” deterministic keyword match on the channel's public title + description. Zero AI, zero cost per call, zero latency.
  • 2026 saturation level β€” high / medium / low, sourced from the same Q2 2026 observations underlying our /for/<niche> deep-dives.
  • RPM band β€” bracketed (low–high) per 1,000 views, for English-language US/UK/CA traffic.
  • Your cadence pressure β€” your actual videos/month vs the niche-typical range. "Below" suggests schedule discipline is your bottleneck; "Above" means you're shipping like a top-tier operator.
  • What wins cheatsheet β€” title pattern, optimal video length, and primary monetisation risk for the niche.

Frequently asked questions

How does YouDark detect a channel's niche?

We use a deterministic keyword-match classifier on the channel's public title and description (the title is weighted 2x). It picks the best-matching niche from a tier table covering 12 verticals β€” True Crime, Dark History, Mystery, Conspiracy, Paranormal, Tech, Finance, Sports, Gaming, Motivation, Science, and AI β€” plus several non-faceless tiers. If your channel mixes verticals, the classifier picks the dominant signal and you can pick the closest manual match on the /for/<niche> pages.

What does "saturation" mean here?

A qualitative 2026 read on how competitive the niche is for new operators. "High" means many established channels and tight monetisation patterns (e.g. True Crime, Finance, Tech); "Medium" means room for niche-specialist operators (Dark History, Mystery, Science, AI); "Low" means schedule discipline matters more than production quality (Paranormal). The labels are sourced from the same Q1-Q2 2026 observations underlying our /for/<niche> deep-dives.

What is "cadence pressure"?

Your channel's actual upload cadence (videos/month, derived from total videos / months alive) compared to the niche-typical band. Below the band suggests you're missing the schedule discipline most successful channels in the niche maintain. At or above the band means you're shipping like a top-tier operator. This is contextual β€” a high-saturation niche needs higher cadence to maintain shelf space.

Why is RPM bracketed instead of an exact number?

RPM bands per niche are public-survey averages (2023-2025 creator data). Your channel's actual RPM depends on audience geography, content phrasing, monetisation status, and dozens of factors only YouTube Studio knows. The band is conservative on the high end.

Why does my channel show as "outside the 12 faceless verticals"?

The classifier mapped your channel to a vertical we don't cover with saturation data β€” usually entertainment, music, kids, or B2B/SaaS. These are valid YouTube categories but not faceless verticals where YouDark has done the niche-specific work. If your channel actually fits one of the 12 listed verticals, the public metadata didn't carry the right keywords; browse the /for/<niche> deep-dives manually.
